Among the many issues related to innovation and access, Patients and Patents focuses on four main areas:
- Encouraging policies and strategies that support and promote ia strong environment strategies for medical research and innovation;
- Promoting patient involvement and engagement and demanding transparency in health technology assessment and reimbursement decision-making;
- Ensuring that all medicines are subject to thorough regulatory oversight to ensure safety and efficacy;
- Promoting access to information to ensure that patients are aware of the availability and benefits of new medicines;
This site is a centralized information resource that will allow visitors to:
- Learn about issues affecting the global research and development environment, including access to medicines, public-private partnerships and patents;
- Track policy initiatives and discussion affecting the global research and development environment;
- Communicate with other stakeholders, policymakers and the public about the importance of protecting a strong research environment to patients around the world; and
- Provide opportunities for engagement in the ongoing discussion on global medical research and development.
